A romantic and elegant Normandy chateau wedding with Bennett and Tyler

This Normandy chateau wedding with Bennett and Tyler was such a beautiful one to photograph. They chose a chateau in the Normandy countryside to host their celebration, welcoming their closest loved ones from the States to join them for the week. It felt calm, meaningful, and very personal from the moment I arrived.
Everything about the day was centred around connection. With everyone staying together at the chateau, there was no rush and no formality. Instead, the focus stayed on spending time together and enjoying the setting. As an English-speaking wedding photographer based in Normandy, it was a real pleasure to capture a day like this for a couple travelling from abroad.

The Couple’s Vision for Their Normandy Chateau Wedding
Bennett and Tyler wanted their wedding to feel intimate, romantic, and completely their own. They were drawn to a classic, understated look rather than anything overly styled or modern. Simplicity mattered to them, along with a sense of timelessness that suited the chateau setting.
Florals were sourced directly from the chateau gardens, and much of the day was styled by the couple themselves. Chairs were brought out from inside the chateau, and a beautiful table was set with flowers gathered earlier that day. Nothing felt overdone, yet every detail felt thoughtful and considered.
Most importantly, they wanted the day to feel documentary in nature. They cared deeply about authentic moments, candid photographs, and capturing the joy of their guests, while still making space for quiet, romantic portraits together.

the First look and ceremony in the chateau garderns
Before the ceremony, Bennett and Tyler shared a first look in the gardens by the rose arches. It was a quiet and emotional moment, just the two of them, and such a lovely way to begin the day.
Rather than a traditional entrance, they chose to wait together at the ceremony space while their guests walked to them. It suited them perfectly and set the tone for everything that followed. The ceremony itself took place outside and was led by one of Bennett’s close friends. It was short and heartfelt, lasting around fifteen minutes, and full of warmth.
One of my favourite details was their decision to have champagne ready for everyone. As soon as they were pronounced married, glasses were raised and the celebration began straight away. It felt joyful, relaxed, and very true to them.

Drinks and canapes at the chateau
After the ceremony, confetti, drinks and canapés were enjoyed at the chateau, alongside taking important family photographs. Guests mingled, laughed, and took in the surroundings, making the most of the beautiful weather. The atmosphere felt light and happy and full of small, natural moments that were a joy to capture
To finish off the afternoon, I took Bennett and Tyler around the chateau grounds to capture a few last, romantic portraits of the two of then. It was a lovely way to round off their celebration and the perfect note to end my time with them.

A Normandy Chateau wedding, captured naturally
Bennett and Tyler’s wedding was a wonderful example of how meaningful a smaller, intimate celebration can be. Their Normandy chateau wedding felt elegant, relaxed, and full of personality, even within a short timeframe.
This Normandy wedding was also featured on European Elopement Guide.
As a Normandy-based, English-speaking wedding photographer, I loved capturing their day in a natural and unobtrusive way. If you’re planning an intimate wedding at a chateau in Normandy and want your day documented honestly and thoughtfully, I’d love to hear what you’re planning.
