A romantic Chateau de Courtomer Wedding editorial with Darina & Julian

Set within a vast private estate in the Normandy countryside, Chateau de Courtomer feels peaceful and elegant, with a sense of history and grandeur that instantly sets it apart. Photographing this inspirational editorial there gave a clear sense of how special the chateau is as a wedding venue. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and settle in.
Located just two hours from Paris, Chateau de Courtomer offers a rare balance of accessibility and complete tranquillity. Surrounded by parkland, woodland, and open fields, the estate feels entirely private. It works beautifully for destination weddings where guests arrive and stay for several days.
What stood out most was the freedom the venue offers. There are no rigid structures or set packages here. Couples are given the space to shape their celebration around what matters most to them, whether that’s something intimate or much larger.

Chateau de Courtomer as a Wedding Venue in Normandy
Chateau de Courtomer suits a wide range of weddings, from smaller gatherings to larger celebrations. The estate can be hired exclusively, allowing everyone to stay on site and experience the weekend together. That sense of togetherness shapes the entire atmosphere, creating a wonderfully relaxing wedding.
Although the chateau is visually grand, it never feels formal or imposing. The spaces feel warm, welcoming, and lived-in, making it easy for guests to settle in straight away. Everything flows naturally from one space to the next, which encourages couples and guests to truly make themselves at home.

A First Look and Wedding Ceremony at Chateau de Courtomer
The first look took place inside the chateau, on the main staircase in the hallway. It’s a striking yet intimate spot within the building. Darina walked down the stairs as Julian waited for her at the bottom. Soft light filtered through the large chateau windows, filling the space gently. The moment felt private, calm, and quietly grand.
Chateau de Courtomer offers several ceremony options across the estate. Couples can exchange vows on the steps of the chateau, beside the moat, within the woodland, or inside the Orangerie. Each location feels distinct while still connected to the setting as a whole.
For this editorial, the ceremony took place inside the Orangerie. The stone walls and natural light created a warm and intimate atmosphere. It’s a space that works beautifully across seasons and can be adapted easily to different visions.

Wedding Portrait Locations Around Chateau de Courtomer
One of the strongest aspects of Chateau de Courtomer is the variety of portrait locations available on site. For this editorial, portraits took place in front of the chateau, inside the main building, and within the Orangerie.
Even with unpredictable weather, there are countless options close together. You don’t need to leave the property to create variety. Everything sits within a short walk, which keeps the day flowing easily. From a photographic point of view, the venue offers depth, texture, and consistent light. It allows couples to have a wide range of images without being pulled away from their guests for long periods.

A Romantic Wedding Dinner in the Orangerie
Dinner was set inside the Orangerie at Chateau de Courtomer, with one long table creating an intimate and romantic atmosphere. Candlelight and florals filled the space, highlighting the stone walls and soft natural light that make the Orangerie such a standout part of the estate.
Thoughtful details elevated the setting without overpowering it. Embroidered napkins featuring the chateau and the couple’s initials added a personal touch, while a live artist painted guest portraits and a large illustration of the couple in front of Chateau de Courtomer. These elements worked beautifully within the space, reinforcing the idea that the venue adapts easily to different creative visions.

Evening Wedding Celebrations at Chateau de Courtomer
As the evening moved on, Darina changed into a short party dress, shifting the mood into something more relaxed and playful. Night-time portraits took place upstairs in the chateau hallway, on the staircase, and back inside the Orangerie.
Candlelight transformed the Orangerie into a warm, cosy space after dark, making it ideal for evening celebrations. The chateau interiors also worked perfectly for more creative night portraits, showing how well the venue supports different atmospheres throughout the day and into the night.
